Game Feature: Souptoys

Well, it's Christmas, so I thought I'd post a game that is a little bit Christmassy.

Souptoys is a game which simply gives you a Toybox to play with on your desktop, containing everything from balloons to catapults to robots, and allows you to build fun stuff using the Toybox.

On the Souptoys website, you can upload "Playsets" which are like saved games, with toys in certain positions, and then download other peoples' Playsets to play them in your Toybox.

There are a bunch of little "buttons" on the Toybox. These are:

- Detonator: Put all toys back in toybox. Equivalent of "New".

- Record: Save a Playset into your Playset folder

- Play: Load a Playset.

- Rewind: Starts the Playset you have open from the beginning.

- Souptoy: This button is the Souptoys logo, and takes you to the Souptoys website.

New toys are available for download nearly all the time, so your Toybox will check when you start playing, and will download the toys for you. The reason why I called it Christmassy is that right now in your Toybox you will find a Christmas tree, and a bunch on decoration that you can put on it! You also can put in see-saws, robots, dolls, blocks, basketballs, and...

Game Feature: Eets

Well, here I am, writing the Blog (late; sorry). In this issue, I'm going to tell you about a neat little game by the name of Eets.

Eets is a neat twist of The Incredible Machine, and Lemmings, and the mind of someone who is insane. In each level, you must get Eets to a Puzzle Shard, using both the powerful mood swings of Eets, and all manner of wacky items, from Giant Marshmallows to Ginseng Factories.

The actual play of a level usually goes something like this:

1. 
   
   You load up the level, hit the Play button and watch what Eets does, and try to work out how you can get from there to the puzzle shard.


2. 
   
   You hit the Stop button and place the parts you need to get through the level.


3. 
   
   You hit Play again, and carefully time your clicks on the parts, so that they will do their thing at the right time to get Eets into the puzzle shard. (Not all levels need clicks)


4. 
   
   You go "Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!" and then go to the next level.

The parts on offer range from simple Marshmallow Buds to exploding Superpigs, and everything in between. Here are a few of my favourites:

Ginseng Factory

The Ginseng Factory sits around doing nothing, until you give it a click. Then it will shoot out a piece of Radioactive Flying Ginseng, which will fly around and can do all sorts of stuff, from turning on lightbulbs, to making Eets angry.

Alien Gravity Marshmallow Bud

There are four kinds of marshmallow buds in Eets. These are the Happy Bud, Angry Bud, Scared Bud, and of course, the Alien Gravity Bud.

This function of this bud is as different from the other buds as apples and oranges. Whereas the other buds change Eets' emotion, the Alien Gravity Bud, when eaten, will reverse gravity completely! Everything will flip upside down, and Eets will walk on the ceiling! If you eat another Alien Bud, gravity will un-flip again.

Telekinetic Bob

Bob is an alien from another dimension. Normally, he'll float around doing nothing, but if something hits him, he wil use his telekinetic powers to make everything float upwards! This only lasts a few seconds, then he will return to his own dimension.

If the gravity has been flipped, everything will float DOWNwards instead.
