Bookmarklet: BugMeNot

BugMeNot is a nice site. Basically, lots of people register for web sites that have compulsory registration, and then publish their account details on BugMeNot, for the benefit of anyone else who wants to look at the registration requiring stuff.

BugMeNot can be used in several ways.

You can go to the site, and put the address of the registration site into the search box.

You can get an extension for Firefox (which is, of course, your web browser) so you can right click in a username or password box, and "Login with BugMeNot", or you can use my next Bookmarklet.

  1. Right click on this step, and choose Bookmark this Link.
  2. Put the Bookmarklet in the Bookmarklets folder, and name it BugMeNot Bookmarklet.
Then, when compulsory registration is bugging you, just use this Bookmarklet, and you'll be in the site in no time! If nobody has submitted a login to BugMeNot, make sure you do!

Bookmarklet: The Image Dance

Okay, okay, this Bookmarklet isn't very useful after all. It just makes all (or at least most) of the images on a pages go on the left side and wave back and forth. To try it out, click here.

Pretty cool, eh? Here's how to make it a Bookmarklet.
  1. Firstly, this is probably your first Bookmarklet. To keep things tidy, make a folder called Bookmarklets in your bookmarks.
  2. Right click on this step, and choose Bookmark this Link.
  3. Put the Bookmarklet in the new folder, and name it something like Dancing Images.
Now you've got a new Bookmarklet. You can use it on any page. Here's a picture to help test the Bookmarklet. It's pretty funny too.

New Segments! Woo Hoo!

Okay, because my blog is boring, I decided to add some more interesting segments. First up, the Bookmarklet!

What is a Bookmarklet, then? Well, a Bookmarklet is a bookmark, which has some JavaScript code in it instead of a web address. This means instead of taking you somewhere strange, a Bookmarklet will do something useful where you already are. I'll give you one of these neat little guys in every Bookmarklet segment.

Secondly, the Physics Fun segment. In this one, I'll feature something fun to do in one of my favourite physics simulation games:
Finally, my Rant segment. This very very occasional segment will have me venting my anger at anything and everything, usually Internet Explorer.

Hopefully you'll read my blog more if I add these segments (and of course update it).

Whoops!

Well, with the excitement of Christmas, I completely forgot about this blog. How silly of me! So, I don't remember what that little bit different thing was going to be. Oh well.

If you've got any suggestions, feel free to leave a comment.
